Celebrating 50 years in the market in 2019, Adamas was started in Lyon, which still houses most of the firm’s resources (about 40 lawyers). The firm also has 11 lawyers based in Paris, 4 lawyers in Bordeaux and offices in Beijing and Shanghai. The firm, which has a strong focus and expertise in the energy and transport sectors, is well known at a national level. It has a broad range of expertise, while its public law and energy expertise are particularly highly regarded. Its healthcare and trade mark expertise is also noted.

Adamas has strong regulatory expertise and has successfully handled several high-profile disputes. The team obtained a victory for EDF in a case concerning regulated tariff issues and was also successful in acting for grid operator Enedis in mass litigation concerning solar tariffs. It is also advising on a large electricity interconnection project and on new innovative projects such as assisting Region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes with its call for tender for its zero emission valley projects. EDF, Guernsey Electricity, Vinci Energy and E.ON are other clients. Practice head Jérôme Lépée and Gilles Le Chatelier are highly regarded. Romain Granjon is also noted.

Adamas‘ ‘reliable and responsive’ 40-lawyer team shows ‘great proficiency and the ability to propose solutions’. It advises major municipalities, harbours, ski resorts and governmental departments, as well as private sector energy suppliers, property developers and a key player in the transport sector. Public contracts and projects, state aid issues, urban planning and litigation are all areas of strength. The firm, which has its main office in Lyon, a major office in Paris and a smaller presence in Bordeaux, is assisting Lyon Métropole with many strategic projects, such as the Anneau des Sciences bypass project and the Lyon Part-Dieu urban development project. The practice also has strong regulatory expertise in the electricity and energy sectors. It is defending a key client, electricity grid operator Enedis, in sensitive disputes over various issues, including regulated tariffs and the Linky smart electricity meters. The cities of Marseille, Lille and Bordeaux are clients, as well as Grand Port Maritime du Havre, SNCF, EDF and Keolis. The practice combines 11 partners and is led by Romain Granjon, whose ‘strategic approach to litigation’ is particularly noted; Gilles Le Chatelier; Jean-Marc Petit; Laurent Sery, who has ‘good technique’; Guillaume Chaineau; and Xavier Heymans.

The members of Barbara Bertholet’s healthcare and life sciences team at Adamas ‘are very responsive, responsible and close to their clients‘. Distinguished by its ‘detailed knowledge of the key topics on the market‘, the group is currently representing a pharmaceutical company in a criminal investigation pertaining to an alleged violation of anti-gift and antitrust legislation. In other highlights, clients instructed Bertholet and her team to advise on a digitalisation project, the reorganisation of a distribution network following the integration of a new business, and patent issues. Associate Rachel Devidal recently joined the firm from Ernst & Young Société d’Avocats following the departure of Jean-Baptiste Chanial and two other associates, who entered the ranks of clients as in-house counsel.

 Barbara Bertholet ‘is a great professional, a tough counterpart and has a constructive approach to litigation‘. She is currently assisting Sandoz with patent litigation against pharmaceutical company Daiichi Sankyo, and is acting for Babymoov as a co-defendant in patent litigation brought by Bamed. In other highlights, the team advised on the negotiation of employee inventor policies and the drafting of licensing agreements.
